Our Services
Overview
What is editorial design? In a nutshell, editorial design is the way information is displayed on books, magazines, newspapers, websites and other publications big and small. It carefully considers how the many elements of a publication (typography, layout, images and illustrations, colours, branding) as well as communication strategies all work together to ensure readability, consistency, and directness of message.
Additionally, well-designed publications can elevate the perceived credibility and professionalism of the research, aiding in grant applications and collaborations. By partnering with creative experts, scientists can focus on their research while ensuring their work is presented in the most impactful way possible.
If you want to create a scientific publication of any kind, we can make it happen.
This is a bespoke service.
Process:
Step 1
We have a video call to discuss the specifics of the project – up to 30 minutes.
Request a meeting and send us your idea via this form.
Step 2
We will provide you a Project Proposal and Quote for the project based on the information provided in the initial meeting. Quotes are not final and may need further revision based on the Scope of Work for the project.
Step 3
If you’re happy with the budget, we will send an invoice and contract. We require a payment of 50% upfront or agreed payment terms to start any Editorial Design work.
Step 4
You send us any material (text, copywrite, images, illustrations, figures, music, etc.) for the project. If our team needs to create new content for the project will be defined in the Project Proposal.
Step 5
We have a 30 minute video feedback session to present the First Draft of the project.
Step 6
Our team will incorporate any feedback from the feedback session and develop Second Draft of the project.
Step 7
We have a 30-minute video feedback session for Second Draft. At this stage we expect minor changes only, such as colour, font, or placement of elements. Any changes that require rewriting, redrawing, or generally going back a step incur an additional price.
If all parties are happy with the stage of Second Draft, we move to completion. If not, we may have to return to Step 4.
Step 8:
Final delivery and publication.
Step 9:
Some projects like websites or social media publications may require ongoing support and reporting. Cooked Illustrations can provide these services as part of the project for a period of up to 18 months, after which a new contract is required.
