Our Services
Overview
Nothing beats video for engaging audiences with complex scientific research, and multiplying the social and cultural impact of your research. Videos provide the best opportunity to use audio voice over, unique visuals, animation and music to create an emotional journey guaranteed to capture your audience’s imagination and increase impact.
Our first production, The Megalodon a Tale in 3D, for the Pimiento Research Group netted the laboratory more than 70,000 views within 3 months of publication as well as a spot on the TED Education YouTube Channel, further increasing viewership by nearly a million.
Our animation production team will support you in the delivery of short and long-form animated content. From short-form content for social media, to animated documentaries, our team looks first at who the audience we need to engage is and offers options for highest engagement within budget constrains.
We recommend you also enquire about our Digital Marketing Communications plan. While the videos on their own are powerful tools for communications, having an actionable plan based on robust research can be the difference between an engagement of hundreds to tens of thousands.
Process:
We aim to deliver videos within four months of contract. Length of work depends on the amount of material provided (research, script, voice-over, designs, etc.) and production constraints.
Before we commit to any work we will provide a Scope of Work document and contract.
For an additional £200, we will take images and assets from the animation, and provide then in transparency open source formats for your personal and professional use.
Step 1
We have a video call to discuss the specifics of the project – up to 30 minutes.
Request a meeting and send us your idea via this form.
Step 2
We will provide you a Project Proposal and Quote for the project based on the information provided in the initial meeting. Quotes are not final and may need further revision based on the scope of work for the project.
Step 3
If you’re happy with the budget, we will send an invoice and contract. We require a payment of 50% upfront or agreed payment terms to start any animation work.
Step 4
Submit any materials such as your paper or manuscript, as well as any supporting material like figures or your own sketches.
Step 5
Our team will write a script and sketch out ideas.
We aim to have a First Draft Script and concept art within two weeks of the start of the project.
We discuss the First Draft and concept art over a video call. After which our team will develop a Second Draft and work further on the concept art.
This step will be repeated as many times as it is required to arrive at the best script within the time and budget constrains of a project.
Step 6
With a script in place, our team will be able to record any audio required. With the audio we can create a Storyboard and Animatic, showing how the animated video will look like.
We will have a meeting to discuss the storyboard.
Step 7
Development of animated short. At this stage no changes will be allowed.
Step 8
We deliver the final product. Cooked Illustrations may offer additional services regarding management of uploads or YouTube channels for an additional cost.
